 On 18th January, the 2011 “CCTV China Economic Person of the Year” award ceremony, touted as the wind vane of China’s economy and the “Oscars” of Chinese business world, was held at the China World Summit Wing. Ten candidates were awarded the title of “Economic Person of the Year”. Wang Jianlin, Chairman of Dalian Wanda Group and one of the “Business Leaders of the Decade”, handed out the award to Zhang Chuanwei, CEO of China Ming Yang Wind Power Group, an award recipient for this year. The “CCTV China Economic Person of the Year Award” was created by Half-Hour Economic Update in 2000 and today, the “China Economic Person of the Year” has become one of the most influential awards in the Chinese economic world. Chairman Wang Jianlin, being one of the “Business Leaders of the Decade” and the only award presenter from the corporate world, commented on the new award recipients. 

In his award commentary, Wang Jianlin pointed out that innovation is a core element of entrepreneurship and only through innovation can enterprises and society improve. Innovation is striving to do what others have not done such that no one other than the innovator can do it. With regard to what others already have, strive to revamp the business model such that one is able to do better than what others have done. In this way, one is able to achieve a different success and gain an upper hand.
